It was reported in the British Christian newspaper "Evangelical Times" (April 1998), that South African inventor, Bernardo van Heerden has invented an implantable electronic device which can be used for security, commerce, banking etc. This device can be implanted into the hand and would be read by a scanner.
On December 10th 1999 Applied Digital Solutions, Inc. was given the patent rights
